I've had the pleasure of working alongside Sonia on Parent Council and on the Fundraising Committee for the past several years and I see firsthand her leadership, her professionalism and her unwavering commitment to serving others. She is someone who consistently champions the needs and interests of those around her, always making sure people are equally heard, supported and represented. Sonia is the right person to serve Ward 1 because she leads with integrity, works collaboratively to make a meaningful difference and is deeply committed to strengthening her community. 

My name is Doreen Caron-Turcic. In my previous role as Clinical Manager, Adult Mental Health at William Osler Health System, I had the privilege of working directly with Sonia Fiorini in her role as a Talent Acquisition Specialist.

Sonia is the right choice for Ward 1 Councillor because she possesses a strong combination of care, leadership, and collaborative problem-solving. I saw her leadership firsthand through her support of intake meetings for hard-to-fill roles, where she took the time to understand the needs of the clinical team, bring people together, and work collaboratively toward solutions with care and persistence.

Sonia is someone who genuinely listens to diverse perspectives and takes the time to understand complex issues before moving toward practical and fair solutions. She brings compassion, integrity, and a strong sense of responsibility to everything she does, while building meaningful relationships and advocating for the needs of others.

I believe Sonia will bring these same qualities to Ward 1. Her commitment to her community, combined with her integrity, collaborative approach, and genuine desire to make a positive difference, will make her a thoughtful and dedicated champion for the residents of Ward 1 and the Town of Newmarket.

When Sonia’s campaigning brought her to my door, I asked a lot of questions. 

I found her to have a good understanding about the job and the willingness to give it her full attention. She was genuine and thoughtful and showed me that she won’t back away from asking tough questions and has the tact to work with colleagues. 

I am convinced she would make an excellent Councillor, and I am voting for her.

I had the pleasure of meeting with Sonia to discuss some local community concerns, and I was genuinely impressed by the compassion, understanding, and thoughtfulness she brought to the conversation. I felt that she truly understood the importance of building a stronger, more connected community through meaningful engagement and, most importantly, making sure residents feel heard and that their concerns are taken seriously.

On a personal note, Sonia also took the time to listen to me regarding some concerns I was navigating and connected me with the right resources and support. That meant a great deal to me.
