Why I'm Running

I am running for Ward 1 Councillor because I want to be a strong voice for our community. I care deeply about ensuring that growth is thoughtful and sustainable, that we invest in the infrastructure and safe neighbourhoods our growing community needs, and that Newmarket remains a place where people of all ages can live, work, and thrive. Above all, I want every resident to feel heard, supported, and genuinely represented.

The experience that has inspired and prepared me most to serve has been my involvement on Parent Council over the past two decades. I loved working alongside teachers, parents, administrators, and students to support initiatives that strengthened our schools and our community. It wasn't simply about attending meetings, it was about building relationships, understanding different perspectives, solving problems, and helping turn ideas into meaningful action.

Those experiences taught me the importance of listening first, building consensus, and working collaboratively to achieve positive outcomes. They also reinforced something I have always believed, the strongest communities are built when people come together with respect, openness, and a shared commitment to making a difference.

I enjoy connecting with people, bringing them together, sharing knowledge and experiences, and helping others feel heard, valued, and empowered. Whether supporting a neighbour, volunteering in the community, or working through a challenge, I believe meaningful progress starts with listening and understanding.

As your Ward 1 Councillor, I will listen with an open mind, work collaboratively with my Council colleagues, Town staff, local businesses, and community organizations, and make thoughtful, transparent decisions that reflect the needs of our growing community. I want to build on what makes Newmarket such a wonderful place to live while addressing the challenges that come with growth from infrastructure and traffic to safe neighbourhoods, responsible development, and maintaining the quality of life residents value.

For me, this campaign is about people. It is about being accessible, earning your trust, advocating for residents, and helping build a community where everyone feels valued, supported, and proud to call Newmarket home.
